Some Things To Remember

Arrive Early

  • As with all medical offices, we do have paperwork to go over, especially if we are submitting your insurance.
  • We do have our initial medical history form and patient privacy forms on this site available to download and print if you would like to prepare ahead of time.
  • It is our policy and goal to get you in on time and out on time. We recognize that your time is valuable and appreciate that you have chosen to spend your time with us. We will be respectful of your appointment time.

Bring Your Eyewear

  • This includes sunglasses and any glasses you use regularly.
  • If you have several pair in the drawer that you do not use but save for back up, you can leave those home.
  • If you have an old pair that you like to wear, bring it with you. This will help in deciding the very best correction for your eyes.

Bring Your Contacts

  • If we are renewing your contact lens prescription, please wear your contacts in to the exam. Evaluation of the fit is best done after the lenses have been in your eyes for at least one hour.
  • Please bring your solution, case, and any other contact lens materials with you to your exam. This will help us to know how you are wearing the contact lenses and provide you with the best fitting and most appropriate lenses and care systems.
  • If you have a box or the contact lens blister pack with the label attached, please bring it with you. This is especially helpful if it is your first visit to our office.

Insurance/Benefits

  • Please bring your insurance card to your visit. We are required to keep a copy in your file.
  • Your insurance is yours alone. Insurance companies often custom tailor plans for businesses and individuals. Your plan may differ from other plans. We can often find information from your insurance, but often they are reluctant to communicate with us. They will share more information directly with you as the beneficiary. A pre-visit call to your insurance or your office H.R. can provide you with all the information you will need on your benefits.
  • We can help with billing insurance. We are glad to submit and follow up with your insurance company. To do this, we need to gather information from you that some people are reluctant to offer. If you would be more comfortable submitting your own insurance rather than sharing information, we will provide you with any information we can to help you do this.

Payment Options

  • Payment is expected at the time of services.
  • We accept cash, check, and most major credit cards.
  • If you need to request payment over time on your exam or eyewear, please schedule a pre-exam visit with our billing office to setup the arrangement and plan before your exam. Payment will be expected at the time of service.
  • We work hard to provide care for all who need it. We have a great relationship with Partnership Health Center in Missoula. We also work extensively with Missoula South Side Lions Club. We participate in the American Optometric Association's InfantSee program. If one of these programs is appropriate, we will do our best to get you in touch with someone to help you.

Pupil Dilation

  • Dilating pupils is done to get a wider field of view of the retinal nerve tissue in the back of your eyes. This is done with an eye drop and is included as part of your comprehensive exam.
  • The effect of the drops usually lasts 3 to 4 hours. The main negative effects are blurry near vision and increased sensitivity to light for the period of time the eyes are dilated. Rarely the effects can last for a longer period of time. This is not harmful to your eyes.
  • People will often prefer to have someone else "drive home" after their eyes are dilated. Please bring someone to help with this if you are at all concerned or have had difficulty immediately after dilation in the past.
